This is Part 2 of my interview with new dad Teko “The General” Modise.

You can read part 1 HERE, that’s where we got serious. This is all about fun, fun, fun!

Brown Shuga: So are we gonna see your wife and baby on a cover of Drum Magazine one of these days?
Teko: Never! Nna?? Nka o patala! It will never happen! Ke tshwere ncosi ya ka on a cover of a
magazine le medi ya ka??

child

BS: Why would you not do it?
Teko: Coz it’s been done before and I don’t wanna be a statistic.
BS: Even if they offer you a R1 Million for the exclusive?

Teko: Ha joe c’mon!

Drum Magazine give me a million bucks?!? It’s a baby man, what exclusive would they want with a baby?

The baby is mine, my business. People must judge me and my football.

(Teko gets up and I ask him about his low hanging jeans )

BS: What’s up with you boys dressing up like this? Can’t these pants go higher?
Teko: What’s wrong with my pants? Hahah you must be used to these guys who tuck in their striped Markhams shirts in neh!  heheheh

BS: LOL shut up! So when is the white wedding day, coz there has to be a wedding?
Teko: Says who?
BS: Hawu, aren’t you going to have a wedding?
Teko: No man, there are so many things happening right now and I’m not even thinking about it.
BS: Okay so maybe later?
Teko: I might not joe.
BS: But every gal wants to wear that dress…
Teko: Yeah I know but the day I do get married, no one’s gonna know about it.
BS: So it will be something small? (tjo bathong! If anyone knows where I was going with these questions, please enlighten me!)

Teko: I might not joe, matsatsi a teng after lenyalo. What’s the point of spending big money , getting people to come and eat your bloody food but tomorrow they won’t be there when there are problems?  & Anyway most of these big big weddings, di fela hampe maan. I’m not gonna be doing step joe. I don’t know but right now, my career is the most important thing. I wanna focus on that.

TOTALLY RANDOM

BS: Which Websites do you visit when you’re online?
Teko: Youtube! I love Youtube for the music… I’m not an internet freak but I love Youtube. Bo di Kickoff what what, I hate football news and reading about this and that. It’s just that there are politics every day and I don’t wanna know about them. Just because I’m a soccer player doesn’t mean I must now always have Laduma, Kick Off, what’s that Walter Mokoena magazine?
BS: Soccer Arena..
Teko: Yeah, Soccer Arena, Soccerlife ka mo…hayi!
BS: So which magazines do you read ke?
Teko: Yho! Heat!!!!!!

Teko: Heat, bona, heat! And obviously these international hip hop magazines that are expensive for nothing! There’s no way I can travel without a copy of Heat. Just to update myself on what’s going on.
BS: So what do you think of Kim Kardashian?
Teko: Yho! Ska bua!
BS: Hahah
Teko: Kim is hot…u know what I said about eras? There was a J.Lo’s era, now it’s Kim’s era.

BS: Speaking of Kim, what do you think of people who do “home” videos?
Teko: People do it coz they’re in love and when you’re in love you do crazy things that you wouldn’t normally do. It’s done out of love or just coz you’re kidding around but because of the tabloids people start using it against you. Mara anyway bo darkie don’t usually do that ish, they just get huge mirrors hahah.

Pro-Cover---mailable
BS: LOL Okay, so you’re known to be a huge Pro Kid fan, what  is it that you love about his music?
Teko: He talks about stuff I can relate to. He speaks lingo ya ko kasi and ke tswa ko kasi. I don’t know where hip hop started, I don’t know what is hip hop, I can’t define hip hop but when he sings, to me that’s hip hop. He’s what I call hip hop mo South Africa.BS: Do you rap?

Teko: I suck! I do rap over songs but I would never record..
BS: Would you ever be on his music video if he asked?
Teko: I would want to do it but I was advised against it. There are so many people that wanted me in their videos but I was advised against it, to protect my profile/image.

BS: Okay, let’s do a quick Q & A…
Teko: Kanti what have we been doing all along?
BS: Kwa kwa kwa kwa kwa kwa tjo! Teko just answer these questions please…

Teko: Extra Time
BS: Beyonce or Victoria Beckham
Teko: Aaaah come on joe, Victoria is skinny! I dont like bony chicks..
BS: Hawu you are skinny!
Teko: So why would I go for someone who’s skinny as well?
BS: Jay Z or 50Cent?
Teko: Jay Z

BS: Rihanna or Chris Brown?
Teko: Hawu I’m a guy, why would I say Chris Brown?
BS: I’m talking about their fight, whose side are you on?
Teko: Riri! Eish, she’s also on form!
BS: Jacob Zuma or Thabo Mbeki?
Teko: Eish politics now? None! Eish ba ka mpolaya, Jacob Zuma
BS: Sunday Times or Sunday World
Teko: Sunday World

BS: BMW, Audi or Jeep?
Teko: BMW
BS: Automatic or Manual (Car)
Teko: Automatic is the in thing!
BS: New York or Zanzibar?
Teko: Zanzibar…for the beach! I’d even buy binoculars!
BS: Rugby, Cricket or Golf?
Teko: Rugby! Cricket takes the whole day so rugby is better. I don’t have the patience for Cricket.

Just Curious wishes TTM11 all the best in his career!, if football doesn’t work out, comedy will be an option coz we lurve his personality!

Bafana & Durban Rise To The Occasion

training

The South African National Football team, Bafana Bafana, recently held a training camp in the hot city of Durban in preparation for the World Cup. Being a Durban native and having missed the 6-2 drubbing of Swaziland  – there was no way I was going to miss the International Friendly against our other neighbours Zimbabwe. This match also marked Bafana’s first appearance at the magnificent Moses Mabhida Stadium.

It’s 7 o’clock on the dot; I’m not in a drop top – just cruising in the “Kings Park Sporting Complex”. The plan was to find good parking and then kill a bit of time at a nearby spot (Please note: Kill time not visual ability) – well that was until we saw hundreds, no, thousands of fans clad in Bafana gear – walking towards the stadium. Now I’ve been known to confuse kickoff times (and dates, but that’s for another talk show) – so my first instinct was to verify if the correct time was indeed 20h30 and not 19h30. Tickets checked – match starts at 20h30 – so why are these darkies so early? Needless to say – the detour was cancelled – we joined the masses and walked towards the bright lights.

Fans22

The crowd was so diverse you could’ve sworn that Manchester United was in town.

A bunch of South Africans, Zimbabweans and others singing, dancing, blowing Vuvuzelas – it was a bit surreal. I even bumped into some folks who spoke a language that sounded like German, but then it could’ve been Dutch, maybe even Afrikaans –anyway I was just glad they chose to go with normal shorts and T-shirts instead of stab vests and suits of armour – they weren’t gonna make it in the Durban heat.

TKO

The atmosphere was even better inside the stadium – the newspapers gave the figures of around 35 000 fans – it looked, sounded and felt like more than that. The lights went off 20 minutes before kick off – much to the disappointment of the crowd that was still grooving to some Durban jam, a few stayed on so it wasn’t completely pitch-black. The players continued with their drills and it didn’t take long before the lights (and music) were restored – but seriously we CAN’T keep having the same issues at different venues so close to the main event.

The match itself was that of two-halves, with Zimbabwe being the more attacking team in the first half – even though Bafana also managed to create good scoring chances via Teko Modise and Katlego Mphela. Parreira changed some things around in the second half and we saw Teko enjoying more freedom of the park. If anything came out of this game it’s that Knowledge Musona (Kaizer Chiefs &, Zim) is going places and that Bafana NEEDS an on-form Teko Modise – we can only hope that we will see the best from these players in the near future.

Bafana continued to probe the Zimbabwean side of the field with good intent – but the defence proved to be equal to the task – not allowing them clear chances at goal. It eventually took a brilliant piece of skill to break the resilient Zimbabwean defence – that freekick by Tshabalala was a beauty of a curler! It’s really comforting to know that we can count on him, Teko and Mphela to threaten with dead balls.

The second goal was my favourite of the match. A well-worked move that involved the vision of Teko, the skill and pace of Cale, the accurate delivery from Gaxa (for a change) – and Mbuyane meeting the cross with a cool head. 2-0 – and the crowd goes wild! The Mexican Wave, Shosholoza, you name it – I really hope that the cameras were able to capture that energy. There was so much pandemonium in the last few minutes – I think half the stadium missed the last goal scored by Thwala – eish – 3-0, not too much to complain about.

Pha

Leaving Moses Mabhida is as easy as leaving your house after watching the game on TV- the stadium has more exit points than the Zimbabwean border. I didn’t miss the concoction of body odours that was a regular feature in the midst of the congestion when leaving the “old” ABSA Stadium – but I did miss listening to people’s opinions as they slowly made their way out.

I managed to eavesdrop on a few conversations – and the consensus was that even though we were pleased with the results from the 2 games – there’s still a lot of work to be done, especially when it comes to taking our scoring chances – everybody knows you don’t get too many of those during the World Cup.

The rest of the people were concerned with playing weak opposition – but in defence, Bafana has more camps and definitely more testing practice games ahead.

I’m guessing that Carlos doesn’t want the players overexerting themselves too early – the team needs to start small and peak closer to the tournament. So in closing, I am quite pleased with the way the preparations are going (and yes, we are STILL preparing) – the team is looking better than it did a few months ago. Big up to the Durban crowd for showing the boys a lot of love – I’m certain that we gave them a major confidence boost.

Our job right now is to support Bafana Bafana, support Africa – and paint a bright picture for the whole WORLD to see!

We’ll be posting some pics that we took (ok, a friend took them) SOON!

Humble Beginnings Launched…

Tekoo

A couple of weeks ago, Teko and his business partner/wife Felicia Modise launched their events and catering company called Humble Beginnings. He’s the CEO, she’s the MD and they promise to give you a personalized service at the most competitive prices. Well basically, they make a lotta promises about the great service they will provide, no matter how big or small your catering needs are…

Eish, I don’t have an event coming up so if any one of you does, please give Felicia a shout on felicia @hbecatering.com and let us know just how well she and her chefs do this.

Meet Teko’s WAG everyone, she’s not just sitting waiting to shine on his shine but actually getting involved in business & making her own mark. Those are the type of WAGs I respect.

Speaking of WAGs, why is “catering” so popular with them? Remember Motshabi Vilakazi & her catering company? I wonder…

On to the Booths: There was a very nice article on the UK’s The Sun last week about Matthew Booth. I would have loved it even more if they didn’t compare him and Sonia to David and Victoria Beckham. Check it out on THIS LINK.

P.S. If you have WAG ambitions then check out my Football365.co.za piece on “How To Lose A Baller in 5 Ways“. :-)

First things first:

Congratulations to Nimrod Nkosi on going to the “mountain”. The Sunday papers reported that the Late Mate With Nimrod host has, at the age of 39, gone to Herschell in the Eastern Cape to become a man. Guess it’s better late than never hey…

I thought he was Zulu and this was a Xhosa tradition… so I was a little surprised about the eastern cape  bit. I always thought Zulus just go to the hospital to become men heheh. Or maybe he’s Swati? Or he’s only just discovered now that he’s actually Xhosa? Just Curious… but yeah, whatever the reason for this late trip, good going bra Nimz.

I’m also curious.. I watched his interview with Rebecca Malope this past weekend and it was interesting that he was acting “straight” when interviewing her whereas he acts “not-straight” when interviewing other people. Mmmmh.

It was a nice interview though, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Speaking of interviews:

Pic: Drum

I caught the last few minutes of Mpho Tshabalala’s interview on Motswako last night and it made me so sad. She hasn’t gotten back to her normal self after suffering the stroke last year. Her speech is now affected and it kinda sounded like she speaks with a bit of difficulty. I hope that she will get better with therapy.

I can’t comment much about what was said as I didn’t get the gist of it all… From the little that I saw it sounded like she was talking about the ups and downs of her relationship with Mandoza and why she has supported him throughout. I got a bit uncomfortable with how some of the questions were asked, at one point it sounded like Penny was pressuring her into blaming Mandoza for her stroke. I didn’t watch the whole interview though so if you guys did , please share.

We wish Mpho and Mandoza a smoother journey going forward.

Sad to hear that Teko Modise and his wife Felicia have separated and she was also in hospital as a result. The Sunday World reported that she was admitted in hospital for a week after Teko kicked her out of their home. No word on why he kicked her out but rumours are doing the rounds that she may not have been innocent … They’re still married so we won’t disrespect their union by talking about things we aren’t sure of. Marriage is sacred and it’s sad seeing those who were courageous enough to take the step, split. I hope the baby will be taken care of, regardless of what’s going on with the two.

Other tidbits:

  • The Sunday Sun ran a story about Mpho Maboi and her alleged relationship with Kaizer Chiefs player Reneiloe Letsholonyane. She told them that they are just good friends, nothing is going on. The rumour actually started with Shwashwi a couple of weeks ago and seems to be spreading. Guess time will tell.

  • As for the story about Guffy not paying maintenance for the kid who was born last month: Ladies, if we choose to date struggling musicians who are also married , can we at least make sure we don’t fall pregnant? Hayi bandla, these pap geld stories are getting tired. Condoms are free.

  • I don’t get to listen to Lesedi FM anymore but am not sure if I would be happy  for Thuso Motaung to go back to Makhulong a Matala.. He’s been off air for 5 years now and a lot has happened since then. I’m not sure if the audience still wants him. It was reported that Thuso won his case against the SABC at an internal hearing that was held last week. One question: DOES THE SABC EVER WIN ANYTHING?

  • Guys why is Desmond Tutu everywhere mara? Ku fika uMichelle Obama, Mkhulu Des is there, next it’s that unhappy new princess bride Charlene Wittstock and Mkhulu is there again… Can we please keep him away from Trey Songz when he gets here next month?

  • On behalf of the Kwaito loving youth of South Africa, I would like to send a message to Mapaputsi, following his comments about Durban Kwaito: Sit down bhuti, you had your chance. Leave us to enjoy Durban Kwaito. Your biggest hit was not even original, please don’t get us started.

Let’s know our places bantu.

If you have any stories you’d like to share, you can holla at us news@justcurious.co.za but please bantu, we don’t mean these kinda emails:

There are no pics up because I’m phone blogging, hopefully will have my laptop back from ‘repairs’ tomorrow (Monday).

You are welcome to use this to chat about interesting stories that caught your attention over the weekend, a few on mine:

Pastor Mboro is offering to help Somizi and heal him of whatever is wrong with him. No one is saying what exactly is wrong but it seems a few religious leaders think he needs help.
Judging from recent pictures, Somizi does look different and he’s lost a lot of weight and as usual, people are whispering about what could be wrong. It’s not right but it’s happening and as much as I will not entertain the comments flying around, I also think it’s hypocritical of his friends to act like they don’t see the change and attack those who ask what’s wrong.

Mboro ke is an attention seeker and I am curious to know if he went to the paper to offer his help or whether they went to him. Either way, I think people are also asking because they love Somizi and care about his well being.
He is one of the most entertaining people in the industry and I pray he is doing okay.

SPIKIRI:

Spikiri is writing a book about his life:
You know when I read this I realised that I should really not even write about which celebrity says they’re writing a book unless they are inviting us to the book launch.

I also started a writing a book last year but I’ve only written 1 page and who knows when I’ll finish.
Khanyi’s book has been coming out since forever, and she’s not the only one… Will Spikiri’s book come out? Time will tell.

X Factor USA:
Is anyone watching X Factor USA? Are we honestly supposed to believe Leroy Bell is 59/60? I’d believe 45, with difficulty but I’d believe it. 60 is something else though…
I’m enjoying the show, the little of it that I get to see it and I think it’s really entertaining and well executed.
I love Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell, such sweethearts and Rachel Crow is my fave contestant.

Rachel has quite an interesting background, she was adopted when she was just 6 months old and her adoptive mom recently revealed that she was a crack baby, who lived in a crack den. Whether she wins X Factor or not, her future is guaranteed to be bright.

MOVE on Teko Modise’s Ex Wife:

*sigh*
So, Move has this “MISLEADING” thing on their cover that says “Angry Wife Reveals All – Teko Modise left me for a man?”
When you actually read the story, Felicia says that Teko is very close to one of his friends, the guy lived with them, even though she never suspected Teko could be bisexual, she once saw Teko’s friend washing Teko’s clothes including his underwear.

So that was enough for the magazine to conclude that Teko left the wife for a man. SMH.

Mina when I read that I wondered why she wasn’t the one washing his clothes, why would you allow your husband’s friend to do his laundry ukhona? Strange.

Anyway, the lady says Teko was always out with his friends, she never caught him, but suspects that he may have cheated on her. She says she will never take him back, she doesn’t want to be famous but she is working on a reality show that will be flighted early next year. The reality show will show us that being married to a star isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be… I will not lie and say I’m looking forward it.

I read the story in the shop and put the mag back on the shelf… I really didn’t like how they are trying to make something out of nothing… I doubt Felicia is happy with that headline, she didn’t say he left her for a man.

Anyway, people have papers and magazines to sell.

Move also has a story about Kuli being fired from Headline… Well, she’s not fired from Headline. It’s like people are waiting for her to leave the show… Why, when the show is so entertaining? Anyway, I have a lot to say on the Kuli issue so look out for that, but for now:

Which stories caught your attention this weekend?

Ooh, also saw Julius Malema’s interview on Carte Blanche (available on www.carteblanche.co.za), very interesting stuff. I loved what he said about not wanting, or not being ready to become state president.. He’s a smart man, hate him or not.

Like… can this lady move on please?

I’m reacting to this week’s Drum Cover story where Teko’s ex wife makes claims that Teko used to beat her up while they were married… Yet again, it’s not a report to the police, it’s a report to the media, which means it is meant to embarass Teko, and I will conclude, discourage Lizelle Tabane, who is said to be engaged to the Sundowns player.

Was that all necessary? Does it help your cause to either get back with him or make him pay maintenance on time? No, it only makes him resent you more.

I understand, it’s very hard to see the man you loved so dearly living happily with a beautiful young thing but ladies we have to check ourselves and how we handle our heartbreak…

.

Felicia Modise shared the following sms conversations with Drum Magazine:

In the Drum article, Felicia says Teko made her stop modelling and acting and I was really surprised at this because I’ve never seen her acting shem…. I hope she will

Iyoo… I will agree that pink message from Teko is cold… like stop using my name because it’s going to be taken soon… but judging from his first response, it sounds like he was reacting to a threat.

Iyooo… another harsh response but after everything they’ve been through, she should know that it’s not her place to advice him on when he should or should not get married again.

Now, this is the same woman who, in 2011, went to tell Move Magazine that “Teko Modise left me for a man.” See below;

Today she’s advising him against marrying a woman… This is why, no matter how rude/harsh he is, I can’t feel sorry for her.

On that advice tip… Felicia girl, running to the papers with stories about your ex will not feed your child, nor will it get you a job. We were proud of you and congratulated you when you launched your catering company (article HERE) in 2010, try and continue with that business. The end of your relationship with Teko is not the end of your world, and on that note I’d like to quote Drake’s Doing It Wrong:

“When a good thing goes bad it’s not the end of the world, it’s just the end of a world that you had with one  girl”

In The Weekend News…

In the news this past weekend:

Tokyo Sexwale has a young hot thing on his arm!

The girl is Nataxa da Silva, a 2o something law student and model. Tokyo’s divorce lawyer, Billy Gundelfinger (who is Danny K’s father in law) has confirmed to the Sunday Times that Tokyo is indeed seeing Nataxa.

This comes at a time when Tokyo is getting ready to battle it out in court with his wife, Judy Sexwale for half of his reported R1.9 billion estate. I can’t wait to see how this one ends….

Do you think Nataxa is in love? Don’t judge us for asking, the age gap is pretty huge and we can’t help but wonder if this is just one of those sugar daddy situations.

Also, do estranged spouses owe it to the other to wait till the divorce is finalised before flaunting their new partners?

Speaking of ANC parliamentarians…

I wonder what Minister Mncube over here thought when she heard that ANC is enforcing a strict dress code to their members who are in parliament. Where were he kids on that day though…

In other news:

  • Teko Modise and Lizelle Tabane are engaged, according to Sunday Sun.
  • Boity’s contract as the face of Iman Cosmetics will not be renewed when it expires at the end of April.
  • Kuli Roberts called Lerato Kganyago a random black and Lerato called her an old raisin or something like that… I coudn’t be bothered with the details, this is all so boring… much like the Rihanna vs Ciara, only with less money.
  • Mandla Mandela is getting a 5th wife… like who the hell is he and what does he do?
  • Thembisile Ntaka and her “lesbian” lover have broken up and she denied being lesbian when Sunday Sun asked. Help me pray for a world where one’s sexual orientation is not an issue. No one should, in 2013, have to be subjected to such questions in public.
  • Rebecca Malope has put her wedding plans on hold, till the kids she looks after are able to stand on their own. Can sis Ribs just be honest and say she does not want to get married. What kind of a reason is this…. Because marriage is all about family , so this reason would make sense if her husband to be does not get along with the kids.. or maybe those kids are the ones who don’t want him… Mmmh.
  • One of Zuma’s sons is part of a group that’s starting a new low cost airline… Read HERE.
  • One of Chris Hani’s daughters is fighting her step mom, Limpho Hani in the media like a proper straat mate. Even if her complaint against her step mom was valid, this right here…. was just nasty!

“All she cares about is 10 April, the day of my father’s death, so she can go to the grave, smile for the cameras and become famous.”

Bathong!

City Press is reporting that  Gareth Cliff and singer Vicus Visser and his brother, Vincent, have split. Apparently the 2 boys gave up their lives in Sandton, and their bursaries from Boston Media House and moved back to Bloemfontein.

According to Gareth’s manager, Rina, the boys met some American woman who has promised them the world, so they probably thought Gareth is wasting their time, so they are going with the American. But this is common in entertainment, how one person spots talent, takes them in and once umuntu sees the bright Jozi lights, they get sold dreams and forget who discovered them, only to come running when things don’t work out.

Let’s hope it will not be the case with these boys. Read the story HERE.

Happy Monday :-)

Things That Make Me Go TJO!

TJO, this Sunday Sun article on Lizelle Tabane dumping Teko Modise had me going TJO and wondering why there are women or rather people who keep doing this though??

.

Here’s what Lizelle told the paper:

“He always slept with his clothes on. And always passed out before doing anything. “At some point I even thought he was gay – because he cared more about his unemployed friends than his fiancee. I’m done with him! I can’t pretend any more. I’m not staying in a place where I’m unhappy. “He kept chasing other girls – while he was committed to me. I don’t remember how many times we fought over this but he kept on doing the same thing. He always came home from parties and strip clubs at 5am – after he got his form back. I did everything a woman could to save our relationship. I treated him well but he repaid me with disrespect.”

About her engagement ring she said:

“I’ll never wear that ring because I’m no longer engaged. I never asked him to propose. So I’ll just keep it as a gift to remind myself that I was once engaged. I’m tired of these guys. They use a beautiful girl so they can attract more beautiful girls. He even asked me to have a baby with him but I said no. I couldn’t have a baby with someone who doesn’t take care of his own kids. His mum doesn’t want to be involved in his problems any more. He doesn’t listen!”

TJO! Can’t we all just say goodbye with our dignities intact?

ELLE Rising Star Design Awards!

Last week Thursday we joined Jo’burgs fashionistas at The Park in Hyde Park for the ELLE Rising Star Design Awards announcement. I’ve always wondered what the platform really did for emerging designers and I read about all their previous winners and what they are currently doing and most of them are doing fairly good in the fashion industry and this includes one of SA’s acclaimed fashion designer, David Tlale who was the first to win the competition when in launched in 2000. I am pro-any platform that allows emerging talent to rise, be discovered and showcase their work, because essentially real talent iningi la e-Mzansi and all of it just needs people who believe in it to nurture it and let it prosper!

Here is what you need to know about the competition…

01

The ELLE Rising Star competition is the opportunity of a lifetime for a young designer seeking to make a mark in the fashion world in Africa and internationally.
The ELLE and Mr Price collaboration is the biggest prize in African fashion. All finalists for the 2015 Elle Rising Star Design Award in association with MRP will have the opportunity to work in collaboration with MRP to launch their own range. They will also benefit from a mentoring programme, online business coaching with GetSmarter, and receive exposure in ELLE SA magazine, which will assist them in the competitive world of fashion design.
To help the rising stars, MRP contributed R10 000to each of the six finalists for the development of their ranges shown at the ELLE Rising Start Design Award during the AFI’s Fast Track Programme in Sandton. These ranges will also be showcased in ELLE SA fashion story, giving the finalists even greater opportunity to be talent-spotted.

.
Here are some of the people we spotted….

02

Bringing their A-Game with these beautiful ensembles, here is Justine a label designer and her friend Dr Judey

03

Estelle, Meagan who works for Nine West and Mango and Suzanne who works for Top Shop.

04

Priscilla a jewellery designer and blogger/product maker Tiisetso.

05

#FashionSquard Allan, stylist Kennedy and Krishen

06

#LeatherOverdose on fleek Anny Botha dressed by Bianca – a finalist for the competition, I can’t wait to see her collection because this ensemble right gets a fat 10/10

07

Nomuzi was there looking elegant in this monochrome ensemble

08

Beautiful ladies serving legs Matlala and Alice

09

Ronel and Sheela pulled the super – phly – and – chic effortlessly

10

We got our drinks and waited for the show to kick off!

11

I am going to stop posting women in head-wraps the day I get my game on point?, allow bahlali!

12

The show kicked off with a MRP Collection called ‘’Teen Spirit’’ the pieces were beautiful lace, florals, denim and some pastel hues, totally great for the summer heat. Such a cute ensemble, are you feeling the #TeenSpirit?

13

The collection will be available exclusively at the MRP Pop Up store in Cape Town – Long Street and online on mrp.com from January 2016.

15

ELLE SA’s Editor Emilie Gambade gave a short speech about the competition and the 6 – finalists. In her speech she said that design can change life as it is a way to escape ourselves through creativity and visions.

16

Blunke Jannse Van Rensburg: Showcased an overly dramatic collection in the way she used the fabric, some exaggerated bows and tons of clashing colours.

17

Dare only if you can, it’s really for the frivolous don’t care type of people and stare because I am totally different than you!

18

She pushed all the boundaries to no limits at all and if you are the try it all fashion type of girl, she is your designer.

19

Cara Geach: Had perfect clean lines and shapes with colour palettes of white, grey and black good classics of all times.

20

She gave a twist to the shift dress by adding the oversized neck. Any takers?

21

This was a fairly good collection with a lot of ready to wear pieces.

22

Siyabonga Ntini: Had some sport – lux pieces in minty, mango and white palettes. The designer was inspired by a post – mermaid fictional muse and wants to see his clothing label making waves in street – culture.

23

Giving you game on pieces…

24

How cute is the whole ensemble?!

25

Bianca Messina: Her collection was placed on juxtaposition, with garments in silhouettes and silky flowing fabrics.

26

Feminine and ohh so classy, the plunging neckline is beautiful. Just what the not – so – shy ladies need!

27

Vez’íthanga baby is this gorgeous ensemble for the warm JHB evenings

28

Daisie Joo Grobler: Inspired by her grandmother, this fashion designer combined the work of flowers, knits and embroidery for her collection.

29

Another shift dress with a twist – look at the arms, knit work.

30

Knitted shorts, would you try them?

31

Hamza Guelmouss: this designer pulled all the stops and went super edgy with androgynous aesthetic of unique ready to wear pieces for the non – conforming fashion lover

32

Stand out from the sameness and adorn what you like…

33

Hamza definitely ticked all the ‘’fashion defying’’ boxes by going as far as he did with edginess and drawing deeper into ‘individualism’ and ‘non – conformism’. If your fashion game is to walk out and very far away from trends – this is your guy!

34

And then the winner for the 2015 ELLE Rising Star Award was announced and it was….*are you guessing, is your guess going to be correct?*

35

Hamza Guelmouss from Rabat – Morocco, ELLE Rising Star Award opened the completion to the entire African continent and received a host of applications from SA, Nigeria, Kenya and Mauritius to name a few.

36

Spotted at the media lounge Dr Precious Motsepe and SA designer Thula Sindi

37

Dr Precious Motsepe with footballer Teko Modise who was present throughout the shows

38

Simplicity mastered, black, white and grey will never disappoint. Timeless classics, bahle oosisi egoli :-) !

39

Hamza doing an interview with Joburg TV, I talked to him after about his collections and what inspired him and this is what he said: he is driven by the vision of that are not glamorous but extravagant, pushing boundaries and being unconventional and making fashion that is street – culture and mostly he is about defying the fashion trends and more about creating style because fashion comes and goes but you remain with your style. He then described individualism as knowing who you are, experimenting with style and finding yourself in a cohesive way where your style, the music you listen to and your culture are all in sync with each other!

As a winner Hamza walked away with R30 000 in cash from MRP, a mentorship programme at the MPR head office in Durban and an opportunity to re-design a predetermined range in collaboration with MRP to be sold in selected MRP stores. Hamza will also get a two-week mentorship at ELLE Magazine in Cape Town, under the editorial wing of editor Emilie Gambade. A big congratulations to Hamza, your collection was beautiful, my friend described it as ‘’ahead of his players’’ and I say an international star has been crowned!
Lastly African Fashion International (AFI) also had a quick showcase and the person to walk away with the title of AFI Young Designer of The Year was Nthabiseng Molefe. Halala nontombi!
Thank you Vuma Reputation Management for the invite.

Reality Check: Our Perfect Wedding Taken to BCCSA!

The day I decided to be off TV on a Sunday is the day fireworks came on… well those that watched this Sunday’s episode of Our Perfect Wedding say they were disgusted to say the least. OPW showed a couple Fanie and Bavelile Mkhwanazi celebrating their love for each other by tying the knot on tv for us to watch, but that is not what caused the turmoil.

Tw

Fanie who is now a pastor met Bavelile when she was a 14-year old teenage girl,  At that time yena u-brothers ebebambe 28 years in the bag eyi-taxi driver preying on young girl’s weaknesses.

T8

They say this groom (now a pastor) was bragging that he used to sleep with about 3-4 girls a day and that he probably has children all over Mzansi *SMH*

You see this kind of life happens on a daily, think Celine Dion and her husband but in Celine’s case they said they waited until she was legal. Producers of OPW should not have aired this whoever gave the green-light for this episode to air is probably in hot water as we speak.

ABSA

Mzansi Magic as well as OPW are to answer to the BCCSA. Their biggest sponsor ABSA Bank also announced their withdrawal.

TwImg-2015

Mzansi Magic has apologised but people are still up in arms. I guess this is a case of a good call gone bad on the producers… do you think the show will be canned as well?

Can the BCCSA be on Trace Music’s arse for not bleeping explicit content on their music videos during peak time? … our kids are home alone exposed to this mess.

DiskiDivas

Still on Reality Shows, Diski Divas is coming back!!! This time with 4 new cast members joining Teko Modise’s ex Felicia Modise as well as Kgomotso Machete accompanied by;

  • Blue Mbombo who will unpack the relationship breakdown between her and ex-fiance Okonkwo Onyekachi –
  • Kia Ntshole who is in a long distance relationship with Chippa United Star Mbuyiselo Sambu.
  • Thandeka Nhleko, ex wife to Kaizer Chiefs Nkosinathi Nhleko.
  • And last, but certainly not least, Promise Zondo whose in a relationship with Manti Moholo of Orlando Pirates.

Let’s Catch-Up: Mzansi News.

It’s Monday and Mama Kiks is still not feeling better , speedy recovery to you Kiki!

Our Sunday tabloids were dry as a crocodile bone kodwa ke lets’ see what made “headlines”.

Starting off with Sunday World:

20160424_171730

Wooh-ha.a head lines such as these “Holy war from hell” are distasteful to me waetsi, since when is church folk news making material. I’m sorry guys I didn’t read this story about Pastor Mboro’s (real name: Paseka ‘Mboro’ Motsoeneng) filling fraud cases against Malawian Prophet Shepherd Bushiri claiming his identity was used on social media fraud. Cabanga, such drama.

20160424_171849

Nantsi enye, Mom furious at blesser, is blesser now an acceptable term to use?

20160424_171831

Sunday World writes: Naledi Ratsela (42) is accusing 54 year olds businessman of preying on her 22 year old daughter, Barileng. As a result of the relationship Ratsela had to strip her daughter of all her privileges including a Jeep Sahara she had bought for her. Caba George (the blesser) has been giving u-sister s ama Ten thou and promised her a tender at North West Department of Health…and also upgrade her Jeep to an Evoque.

Indaba yama-blessers inzima shem, it even comes between family members.20160424_212349

There’s also a story on Teko Modise’s financial woes, bathi Teko owes R80k in commission to property Estate agent for failing to take ownership of the house he bought (signed the offer to purchase but never occupied the house). Teko needs a proper partner shem to prosper in this life thing.20160424_170933

Sunday Sun ran with the story of the ANC volunteers/members that died on the road coming back from Port Elizabeth… The story is all over the show it does not make any sense as they seem to blame Tk Nciza with Mzwandile Masina for the volunteers death just because they travelled by air. *rolls eyes*

20160424_171016Death does not discriminate if TK and Mzwandile’s time comes, it will find them even in the sky or on the road. Yes it’s unfortunate for the families that lost their loved ones. Mabalale ngolukhulu uxolo.20160424_171117

I have been wondering the whole week why there was no Tbo Touch on Metro FM bathi Touch has been suspended after he had an argument with Station Manager Sibongile Mtshali over a segment on his show. According to an insider at the SABC, the boss lady wanted the segment to be 20 minutes long instead of 60 minutes as Touch wanted.

20160424_171632

Mshoza has found love in the arms of businessman Thuthukani Mvula who is allegedly married to two other women Mshoza being the third. What I like about this is Thuthukani’s response when called for comment “ Yes! I’m dating Mshoza and I’m prepared to make her my wife” zamnandi ezondaba!MoveMove Mag, runs with the Mandoza Cancer story as their cover. I think we have discussed Mandoza sickness a while back so I’m not going to get to that but I will say he is lucky to have Mpho as his support in this time.

They also speak of Chomee’s marriage… is she getting married to Arthur?

Drum

And Drum speaks of Brightons’ Side ntoza speaks up about her miscarriage… I don’t get this thing, it seems as if everyone wants to be pregnant, aren’t we scared of contracting HIV bakithi or we are sure the cure will be available over the counter by tomorrow? All I can say right now is, we are a generation that is not scared of things izinto zoyika thina.

Thant’s it from me, tell us what caught your attentions this week.
